Volunteer Person Specification:
Norwich Rape Crisis and Mpower
As a volunteer you may be asked to help with a number of activities, the primary key to our service is the Helpline, but there are many other duties. To help you decide whether you would like to become a volunteer the following activities have been identified, please do not be alarmed by the list - you will not be expected to do them all - but we do ask for a minimum time commitment of 8 hours per month.
Key Activities:
Active participation on the rota for the Helpline
Helping with Crisis support interviews
Providing one to one counselling service
Outreach service
Training providers
Liaison and networking with other groups
Promoting the organization in line with its code of ethics
Playing an active role in helping with the administration and running of the
organizations
Behaving in a way that does not discredit or bring the organization into disrepute
Maintaining confidentiality
Continual development of ones own skills by participation in group supervision and one-to-one supervision.
Identifying and participating in future training opportunities to develop ones own skills and expertise.
Abiding by the code of ethics
Active time commitment of 8 hours per month
Characteristics we are looking for:
An ability to listen, to see things from another persons point of view.

Good communications skills, recognizing when to ask, receive and give help.
A willingness to work as part of a team to be reliable and contribute fully.

A willingness to learn and participate - to seek out other learning opportunities
